These mohair locks are still in their ‘raw’ form, meaning the natural curl is still there. Unlike mohair top (which we also carry), these fibers haven’t been combed into parallel strands. They are loose little tufts that have kept their quirky character. In this vibrant hot pink, they’re perfect for adding a bit of pop and texture to your projects.
Spinning Experience
The great thing about these locks is how they instantly change the character of your yarn. You can card them into a batt for extra shine and depth, or spin them in loosely for a rugged effect with that famous mohair ‘halo.’ Since they are so bright, they also work brilliantly as small pops of color in a more neutral thread.
Spinning loose locks takes a bit of practice, but the result is a yarn full of life with a beautiful silky luster.
Which spindle suits this fiber?
If you’re using the locks for a textured art yarn, grab a size 3 or 4 Turkish spindle. For a finer blend where you card them in, a size 2 is just fine.
