Description
High-contrast looks, continuous flow. The Athena Olive Ash is a rim-weighted powerhouse for those who want an endless spin and a sleek design. An Athena in size 3 is currently my personal go-to: simple in form, but wild in performance.
- The Vibe: Sleek, high-contrast, and steady.
- The Wood: Olive Ash is light with darker streaks. It’s a treat for your fingers too, as you can actually feel those patterns.
- Match: Your bestie if you want to spin thin on a heavier spindle, or if you prefer spinning thicker yarns with a constant flow.
Size & Weight (Olive Ash)
Olive Ash is compact and heavy. With its mass concentrated at the outer rim, the Athena offers an incredibly long spin. It’s the perfect match for those who want a spindle that never seems to stop, whether you’re spinning lace-weight or something fuller.
| Size | Weight | Diameter | Your Spinning Experience |
| 2 | 16 – 17 grams | Light and quick. | |
| 2 | 26 – 28 gram | 12 cm | Extended spin time. A solid choice just above starter weight. |
Why Olive Ash?
Olive Ash is known for its “tactile noise.” You can subtly feel the transitions between the light and dark streaks under your fingers. It’s a heavy wood that truly shines in the Athena shape. You get a beautiful striped look combined with the stability of ash.
The design: Model Athena
Named after the goddess of wisdom.
The Athena is my most streamlined design. No distractions, pure focus on weight distribution. While the Artemis has its mass in the core for a powerful spin, the Athena places it more towards the outside for a satisfyingly long rotation. It’s my current favorite for a reason: it brings a wonderful calm to your spinning flow.
