Description
De Artemis Kers is een verrassende lichtgewicht. The Artemis Cherry is a surprising lightweight. Even though the Artemis is my most solid model, the cherry wood keeps the spindle super manageable. The perfect move if you want the looks of a large spindle without the heavy mass.
- The Vibe: Warm, soft, and light.
- The Wood: Cherry is a classic: fine-grained, zero tactile noise for your fingers, and very low mass.
- Match: Your bestie if you’re looking for a larger spindle that’s easy on your wrists.
Size & Weight (Cherry)
Cherry wood is naturally airy. Even in the larger sizes 3 and 4, this Artemis remains quite light, making it ideal for longer spinning sessions.
| Size | Weight | Diameter | Your Spinning Experience |
| 2 | 19 – 21 gram | 10 cm | A heavy size 2. Perfect for those slightly fuller ‘fine’ yarns. |
| 3 | 26 – 28 gram | 12 cm | Just above the ideal starter weight. Perfect if you prefer spinning thicker rather than thinner. |
| 4 | 34 – 37 gram | 13 cm | Large volume. Perfect for art yarns without the unwanted drag. |
Why Cherry?
Cherry is a fruitwood, and it’s almost always lighter than woods like olive or oak. The surface feels extremely soft. No grain or distractions to interrupt your flow; just 100% smooth. You choose cherry for the warm color and the fact that the spindle only gets heavy once you load it up with fibers.
The design: Model Artemis
Named after the Goddess of the Hunt.
The Artemis is sleek and stable. Since this model uses a relatively large amount of wood, the light cherry ensures the balance is just right: a sturdy shape that still spins light and easy.
The details
- The Shaft: Hickory or walnut with the smart taper to keep your single in place.
- The Finish: Natural hardwax-oil. It brings out the warm cherry glow while keeping the wood tactile.
- Sustainability: I use local wood whenever possible. Better for the planet.
