Description
Some spindles simply ask for their own spotlight.
This Artemis is made from elm wood with a vivid grain and subtle knots. The wood feels alive — and it shows. Light variations in tone, natural irregularities and a warm shimmer give this spindle a personality you won’t easily find again. This is a one-of-a-kind piece: the spindle you see in the photo is exactly the one you’ll receive.
About Artemis size 1
Artemis has a slight shift in weight toward the center, giving her a bit of extra power from within, without losing balance.
In size 1 she is especially light (between 8 and 9 grams), making her perfect for spinners who enjoy fine yarns and a quick, responsive spin. Think cobweb to sock weight, with fibers like silk, merino, alpaca, or other shorter or slippery fibers.
This size does take some experience. She’s light and fast, and performs best when you spin fine. That takes a bit of skill, but the beauty is: the finer your yarn, the longer she’ll keep spinning. That’s how you get the most out of this model.
Delicate wood, carefully selected
Spindles like this are chosen with extra care: the wood is strikingly beautiful, but knots can make it a bit more fragile than average.
Each knot has been carefully sanded and finished, so the surface feels smooth and comfortable in your hands.
I check every part thoroughly and test the balance before shipping. Still, I recommend handling her gently when assembling or disassembling the arms, and storing her with care when not in use.
Part of a small series
This spindle is part of a small collection of unique pieces made from special woods or combinations. They appear occasionally, always individually, and each with their own story. If this one speaks to you, don’t wait too long, there’s only one.
