Description

Every now and then something special happens when two woods come together. A touch of mansonia beside olive ash, a kauri arm paired with cherry – each combination has its own story to tell.

Twist of Woods is my collection of one-of-a-kind spindles: each one unique, each with its own character and interplay of color and grain. They vary in size, shape, and weight, yet they all share that playful mix of textures that only contrasting woods can create.

This is the series where I get to truly explore. Sometimes I look for woods that complement each other visually (soft tone on tone, or a bold contrast) and sometimes I choose the pairing to refine the spindle’s physical balance. Not every wood carries the same weight, and those differences give me room to let each spindle settle into its own perfect equilibrium.

The shaft and the finish

The shafts of my spindles have a gentle flare near the tip, making it easy to secure your single. The shafts are made from walnut or hickory. Hickory is exceptionally resilient, with high density and natural spring, which makes these shafts wonderfully sturdy in daily use.

Every spindle is finished with a durable hardwax oil that preserves the natural look of the wood, adds a soft warm sheen, and provides reliable protection.

The spindle you see in the Twist of Woods collection is exactly the one you will receive. Each piece is truly one of a kind. Before shipping, I carefully check every spindle to make sure it meets my standards.

Sizes 1 and 2 are always shipped in a fitting, charming, and – most importantly – recycled tin.
