How to Spin Stripy Start Merino Top
The vertical color stripes of this fiber shine best when spun “from the fold.” It may sound complicated, but it’s actually quite easy!
Take a small piece of the top, fold it over your index finger, and draft the fibers from the center, pulling from the tip of your finger. This method keeps the colors beautifully together, creating a cohesive look, and gives your yarn a lighter, woolen effect.

Which Spindle Works Best?
You can spin the Stripy Start Merino Top on any spindle. For the best balance of speed and control, we recommend a size 2 or 3 Turkish spindle. These sizes allow you to spin smoothly and achieve the yarn you have in mind.
This fiber also works wonderfully on a supported spindle. If your Turkish spindle has a slightly pointed shaft (like mine), you can use it as a supported spindle too.
