Description

These solid wood mitten blockers are made of mansonia with lots of love, care and attention and a finish of multiple layers of high quality oil will keep them save. The thumb is separate from the rest which makes it easier to shove the mitten blocker in the mitten. Place the thumb after the mitten blocker is in place.

We developed our solid wood mitten blockers in collaboration with Sascha (alasascha). In her book “Crocheting hats and mittens” she uses the first mitten blockers we produced.

Most mitten blockers available are made of plastics, or thin layers of pressed wood. Since you’ll be putting wet mittens on them, it is inevitable that water will damage the layers and the mitten blockers. They won’t last a life time like these beauties will!

Sizing

The solid wood mitten blockers are available in three sizes. Measure the desired size before ordering. Circumference is measured at the widest part of the hand, around the knuckels, thumb excluded. The length of the hand is measured from the top of the middle finger to the beginning of wrist

S – Circumference: <17,5 cm, length: <15 cm.
M – Circumference: <20 cm, length: <19 cm.
L – Circumference: <22,5 cm, length: <22,5 cm.

Please note! We sell mitten blockers per piece! Why? We fully realise that the purchase price of our mitten blockers is higher than most other mitten blockers. However, you don’t REALLY need two mitten blockers in the same size. You can easily block your mittens one at the time with a little patience. Besides, a lot of people knit mittens one at the time too. Sustainable and conscious!

So how do you use our solid wood mitten blockers?

  • Wash your mittens, or let your mittens soak for about twenty minutes in warm water.
  • Then squeeze, don’t wring, them out in a towel.
  • You aim for towel dry mittens. If they’re still dripping, your mittens are too wet. No wooden product can deal with that amount of water without damaging or losing its shape.
  • Place them on the mitten blockers one at the time and hang them to dry, or lay them on a towel until they’re completely dry. Never let them dry on something like a heater because your mitten blockers will lose its shape.
  • Enjoy your comfy fitting mittens with all the stitches showing off!
