Description
This blend of extrafine merino and mulberry silk is a true luxury fiber. The softness of merino combined with the sheen and strength of silk makes it perfect for projects that need both delicacy and durability. Think scarves, sweaters, or other items worn next to the skin.
How it spins
Merino–silk spins smoothly and produces a flowing, lustrous yarn. Both fibers are naturally slick: merino because of its very fine micron (16–19 µm), and silk because of its smooth structure. This means the blend requires extra twist to hold together. With an average staple length of around 10 cm it is manageable, but the slippery nature of this mix demands experience and steady drafting.
The park & draft method can help add control, making this fiber more approachable if you are still building confidence.
