This blend of Polwarth with  viscose nepps combines the best of both worlds: the softness and bounce of Polwarth with the light structure and subtle sparkle of viscose nepps. The nepps (small rounded fiber clusters) create a gently textured effect that adds character and visual interest to the finished yarn.

Is the Confetti suitable for beginners?

With its average micron count and staple length, this blend is smooth and pleasant to spin. Polwarth is a fine wool with a soft crimp and good grip, making it suitable for spinners with little or moderate experience. The viscose nepps add a light, decorative texture. You’ll feel occasional small bumps while drafting. You can keep them in the yarn for a lively, textured look, or gently draft them out for a smoother result.

The resulting yarn has natural elasticity, a soft sheen, and a subtle irregular structure, perfect for sweaters, hats, scarves, or expressive art yarns.

Which Spindle Works Best for This Blend?

This blend is ideal for both suspended and supported spinning. For beginners, we recommend a Turkish spindle in size 2 or 3, which offers a great balance between speed and control.
For a loftier, woolen-style yarn, the long draw technique, spin from the fold or use a supported spindle. For a stronger, worsted-style effect, use a suspended spindle and spin from the end of the roving. You can learn more about worsted and woolen yarns on our information page.

Wash Confetti Top

Like all non-superwash fibers, this blend is sensitive to felting. Always wash your spun yarn by hand in cold or lukewarm water. Avoid rubbing or wringing the fibers, and lay your yarn flat to dry to maintain its structure and softness.
